2025
Wenyuan Received IES student paper assiatance for IECON2025, congratulations!
Dr. ZHAO accepted the interview from Red Bird Face-to-face Interview Series, and provided his experience to undergraduates on how to conduct research during their campus life.
Dr. ZHAO gave a talk at Mingzhu Dialogue, and the talk is entitled “Joint module solutions under the tidal of embodied intelligence”.
AMDT held a group meeting & farewell meeting for visiting students Zhongyu and Kailun. Wish Zhongyu and Kailun all the best in their future academic journey.
Dr. ZHAO gave a seminar for 2025 enrolled RBM students, and the seminar is entitled “Teaching hardware new tricks: opportunities and challenges in the era of embodied intelligence”.
Our zero-speed-drop outcome was introduced by the president Lionel Ni at the 2025-2026 first class for new semester.
Dr. ZHAO attended the Fourth Motor Drive for Areospace Forum held in Northwestern Polytechnical University, and gave a speech entitled “Investigation of applying AI in motor design and control for eVTOL applications”.
Dr. ZHAO was invited to participated in the University-Industry collaboration salon with Schaeffler in Shanghai, and the two parties decided to cooperate in the field of robot joint modules with advanced cooling method.
Our project “Research on A High Power Density Robot Joint Micro Servo Drive Based on Gallium Nitride Devices” was approved by the National Local Joint Humanoid Robot Innovation Center.
Dr. ZHAO attended the Second New Energy Automotive Forum held in Guangxi University, and gave a speech entitled “Intelligent motor design and control for EV applications”.
Our axial-flux motor demo for humanoid robot joint was exhibited on the 2025 Innotech held at HKUST(GZ).
Dr. ZHAO served as the chair of IEEE Guangzhou Section Transportation Electrification Council Chapter, and the committee was established.
CMA faculty from HKUST(GZ) visited IISR, and we have discussed the potential collaboration in terms of human-machine interaction.
2024
Dr. ZHAO served as a host at the 2025 Robot motor conference held in Changzhou.
AMDT Lab orgainzed an annual dinner in 2024.
AMDT Lab undertook the task to hold 2024 CES Youth Salon, and more than 80 scholars from universities and industry attended the salon.
Zhenxiao recieved the best oral award in 1st Electrical Artificial Intelligence Conference for his contribution to deploy lightweighted neural network to motor controller, congratulations!

Dr. ZHAO’s PhD supervisor Chunhua LIU from CityU paid a visit to AMDT Lab.
Dr. ZHAO took a photo with Prof. Raja in Hangzhou. Prof. Raja is a member of the National Academy of Sciences in U.S.

Dr. ZHAO’s postdoctoral supervisor Prof. C.C. Chan paid a visit to AMDT Lab. C. C. Chan is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in U.K.
